DESCRIPTION: In 2028, people rally around Presidential candidate Senator Jeffrey Barspool who has a remarkable plan he calls, The Civil Society. Rid the country of fear and fear-mongering. Rid Congress of legal corruption. Take away big money so members of Congress can vote their consciences. (If they have any.) Under his administration, a compassionate society would be developed to help everyone, including the throw-aways of society. Criminals would no longer sit in cells but would be expected to become productive members of society. Generations of dependent families would be assisted to hold jobs and become educated. These people and more would learn to live productive lives. But what happens when this compassionate, civil society comes to life? Read the book to find out.
A fast read. Short and to the point. I like to call it pulp-fiction documentary.
QUOTATIONS: "If Washington is the brain of the nation, then our country is mentally ill."
"Unless all parts work together, the whole cannot be healthy."
"We haven't expected a cure. We spend millions on incarcerating criminals, never expecting them to come out better."
"For all our caring, we can't get people out of their downward spirals."
